I wanted to take this #throwbackthursday
opportunity to post a picture from one of my most amazing experiences from 2016. Flying a helicopter, a Rolls-Royce turbine driven @robinsonheli R66 to be precise, fancy 💁♀with my friend and owner of the helicopter @iflyheli over Los Angeles after a four hour ride from Squaw Valley in north California. Flying a helicopter is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done! (don’t tell my airplane that I said that 😆) ‘Fly towards downtown and as you approach pull the steering stick (is it actually called steering stick in a helicopter 🤔) backwards and climb’ I watched the speed as it dropped to 0 kts an hour, that for a fixed wing pilot is not good, low speed in an airplane, in the wrong configuration means it would stall which is a less pleasant condition, but in a helicopter it’s amazing, flying over the same point on the ground and using all of the engines power to gain altitude - amazing!! Thank you a thousand times for giving me this experience York, it means more to me than you will ever know 🙏 LA I see you soon again, only four days to go!
