There’s nowhere more iconic in Kolkata than its Howrah Bridge.
Connecting Howrah and Kolkata across the Hooghly river, it carries up to 100,000 vehicles per day, making it the busiest cantilever bridge in the world!
The bridge was officially renamed to ‘Rabindra Setu’ in 1965 but - as often seems to be the case - that doesn’t seem to have changed what the bridge is actually referred to as!
I scoured millennium park and the flower market for bridge views, and eventually found this small ghat. Rumour has it even better views can be had from the Hooghly ferries... just another reason for me to go back to charming Kolkata!
